Get to know gourami

Gourami are popular freshwater fish native to Asia, known for their vibrant colors, distinctive body shapes, and unique ability to breathe air using a special labyrinth organ. They come in a wide range of sizes, from the tiny Sparkling Gourami at around 4 cm to the Giant Gourami, which can grow up to 70 cm. Another distinctive feature is their elongated pelvic fin rays, which act like whiskers to help them sense their surroundings.
Gourami thrive in water temperatures of 20–28°C and generally prefer aquariums with plants, hiding places, and gentle water flow. Their temperament varies by species, with Honey and Dwarf Gourami often suitable for community tanks, while more delicate species may need specialized care. These omnivorous freshwater fish accept quality flakes, granules, and pellets, as well as small live or frozen foods. Some gourami also build bubble nests during breeding, making their reproductive behavior particularly fascinating.
