Get to know molly

Molly fish are popular freshwater fish known for their lively behavior, wide variety of colors, and ability to reproduce easily. Native to the Americas, they can grow up to 10–13 cm and are available in many varieties, including Black, Dalmatian, Sailfin, Lyretail, and Balloon Mollies. These omnivorous fish constantly scavenge for leftover food and may also help control hair algae in aquariums.
Molly fish are generally peaceful and thrive in warm water around 24–27°C, with sufficient minerals and relatively hard water. As livebearers, females give birth to live young every 30–60 days and may produce more than 50 fry at a time. They do well with similarly sized community fish, such as Corydoras, Danios, and Tetras, but may nibble on the fins of slow-moving fish with long fins. Providing a balanced diet of plant-based and protein-rich foods, along with dense aquarium plants for fry to hide in, helps keep mollies healthy and supports successful breeding.
